I went to the city hall, or something, with my mom, my aunts, my uncles and my grandmother today to see this prosecutor. I got arrested...for killing an ant.
Kidding.
One of my uncles was subpoena'd by the court because his ex-wife charged him with child abuse when he spanked my 9 year-old cousin. I'm not sure how it all really happened, but from what I know, my cousin was caught watching TV on a school night when he wasn't supposed to...after so many violations of the house rules already. So, my uncle thought it was high time to discipline him. But I guess he got carried away, and my cousin got some bruises from it. Which my aunt saw.
We went there to give some moral support for my uncle. I went to see how court proceedings go.
I know my uncle was wrong, too, and he did admit it and he apologized for it. He even told my cousin that if he wanted him to be jailed, he would go willingly to finish it all. But hell, my aunt is the one who should be lynched. She's using her own son to get revenge against her ex-husband. She doesn't care about her sons at all, as shown by her previous actions. Besides, she even brought her son to the courthouse, without realizing how it would affect a child who already is psychologically screwed up in many ways. Even the prosecutor pointed that out to her.
And it was obvious she was dictating every answer my cousin had to give. He was sitting on his lap and every time the prosecutor asked him something, he would look up at his mom first. Four times, the prosecutor asked if he wanted his dad to be put in jail, and, for the first three times, he shook his head. But on the fourth, he looked up at his mom, and my grandmother and mom saw the way his mom pinched him under the table. Then, he nodded.
Can't imagine how a mom can put a kid through that and try to turn him against his own dad.
We used to see her a lot, before she and my uncle had their marriage annulled. She's a stranger now. I could feel it when I approached her. Her eyes...I don't know. They were cold and it felt as if they looked straight through you instead of at you.
Or maybe it's just bias. But it really did feel weird being around her today.
