Grades were distributed today. Actually, I'd known since last Friday what my grades would be because Yumi had gotten them from Xander for me. But, of course, it's not really the same as seeing them in print with your own eyes. And there were some confusion with the report I got from Yumi about discrepancy between the QPI she said I got and my own computations.
It was supposed to be an in-and-out, less-than-five-minutes process. There was no line at all when I arrived at the pingpong area, where the grades were being distributed. Actually, I was the only one there getting my grades. But when I was about to sign on the sheet, I found out that I had a hold order from ADSA. I would have to go to the ADSA window to get clearance, then go all the way to Bellarmine to get my grades, because that's where all the grades and regform with hold orders went. Hold order?!? Why would I get a hold order?!?
But, having no other choice, I went to the ADSA window in Xavier Hall, where there were already long lines. Standing there under the very hot sun is not the most fun thing to do, but there you go. Wil was already there, right in front of me in the line. He suggested that maybe I had gotten a traffic violation, since I certainly don't have any ID violation. I considered it possible, because there were a couple of times during the first sem when the guard at gate 3 had gotten my ID because we didn't have a gate sticker. But when I got to the front of the line and asked when I got the traffic violation, she showed me the record. It had been on October 15, and it had been because of overnight parking and that the fine would be a thousand bucks. OVERNIGHT PARKING?!? 1000?!? Why the hell would I park overnight in school? And besides, I don't even HAVE a car! I stared at the record and saw the plate number. TRS 911. Hell, we don't have a car with that plate number!
I told the girl so, but she pointed out that my name was there, and so was my ID number. But I insisted the plate number did not belong to me. She said that there must have been a mistake at the physical plant (damn right there was!). She decided to give me clearance to get my grades and regform, but she said she wasn't going to erase the violation from my record until I settled it on Monday.
So, I got the clearance and went to Bellarmine to claim my grades and regform. Damn, was the line long! Oh, where was the lineless lines of the pingpong area? This one took me about an hour just to get to the doorway of the room where we could get our grades. By the time I reached the end of the line, I was pissed off, I was tired, and I was hungry.
Yes, it should have taken me a maximum of five minutes to get my grades. But because of the mistake of the physical plant, it took me much longer than that. I had gotten to school before 9. It was almost 11 by the time I finished. And I still have to settle everything with the physical plant to convince them that that traffic violation was not mine to pay for. Geez, all that hassle, and I hadn't even done anything wrong!
Good thing my grades were good enough to perk me up. Here're my grades for the second semester of my junior year:
Film & Design: A. Sir Badong, you are my hero from now on! You just made my day!
Voice, Movement, Mime: B+. For most of the semester, I expected a much lower grade, since acting and dancing is NOT my one of my few strengths. But thank you, Dexter, for cutting me some slack and giving me a B+, even though I know I didn't always deserve it.
Philosopy 102: B. Yeah! I didn't really let myself hope too much for that one. Yumi had told me last Friday I'd gotten a C+ (which explained the discrepancy), but when I got my grades this morning, I saw the B beside Philo 102. So, thank you, Mr. De Jesus, even if you did irritate me at times. And I'm probably going to take his Philo 103 class again next sem with Jace.
Theology 131: C+. Oh yes, I'm very happy with this already. After the sad affair with theo 131 during first sem, C+ is practically something to celebrate for. I had been expecting a C actually, and this is definitely much better.
Nonfiction Workshop: C+. Now, THIS is an entirely different story. I am NOT happy with this grade. I do NOT deserve this grade. I expected a B. After all, I got B pluses in two of the four essays, and a C+ in one. I don't think I'd gotten less than a C+ in my profile essay, so that would have made a B if you'd computed it. Grr.
Had FA meeting at noon, with a marketing talk from Steven Uy. Went to Megamall with the block to watch Spongebob afterwards. Ahm, nabobo ako sa palabas. Though, I had to admit, it was funny.
That's it I guess. Dad's making me go offline now.
