The class where chaos reigned
There was chaos in Theo 141 today. All because of that immersion project.
Mr. Tejido gave us the list of immersion sites that OSCI had assigned to our class. 6 people per site, which means 1 group (5 members) per site, and 1 more person, if anyone else wants to go to that place.
OSCI assigned 4 sites to us: Tiaong, Quezon (a farming community), Batangas (a fisherfolk community), Zambales (tribal community) and Riverside Marikina. Mr. Tejido added San Mateo, Rizal, because he can personally arrange for iammersion sites there, and it would be able to accomodate more than one group. Our group wanted the Batangas site.
So did five other groups.
Ah...see, here was the problem. Mr. Tejido made a mistake. First, he announced that he was giving us till Monday to decide what site we want. He said the sign up would be on Monday. But then, Scabber's (only a bunch of Block E members would know him) group approached Mr. Tejido and, unknown to us, they were already reserving that site. We thought they were just talking to Mr. Tejido about something. And then, suddenly, the other groups got wind of what was happening, and they started scrambling for good sites too. The rest of us, who were at the back and did not realize that they were already reserving sites, were left with the bad ones.
And so, the group behind us complained. We didn't know that we could already reserve sites. We thought Monday was the sign up day. Mr. Tejido had to consider that. He suggested a lottery.
Of course, Scabbers (the leader of his group) protested. He said that his group had been planning, even before the list of sites had been handed out, to get a fishing community for their immersion. Of course, if the lottery pushed through, his group would be the greatest loser because there's only a 1/8 chance that they would again win that Batangas site.
Long debate, blah blah blah. In the end, the group leaders picked numbers by which the order of those who would reserve a site would be decided. We got 4. And ended up with San Mateo, Rizal, along with Chino Datu's and Erwin Lee's group.
Arg. Really wanted that Batangas site. We're still holding out hope that we'll eventually get a fishing community though. Mr. Tejido's going to see if he can get OSCI to arrange it for our group, and Scabbers' (they didn't get it in the end). *crosses fingers*
