Traumatizing events

Let's talk about certain traumatizing events over the past two days...

TRAUMA #1:

Well, these pictures should explain how yesterday was traumatizing for me. Tita Len got married yesterday...and I went in a tube dress and near-stiletto heels. Oh sure, Cerz said that they were actually low heels...but then, she's used to them, often going to school in even higher and more lethal heels. I, meanwhile, had to balance my entire body on two skinny heels for the very first time yesterday. (And there was the fact that I noticed that most of the others' heels were lower than mine!)

As for the dress, one of my uncles kept telling me not to slouch. Hey! Give me a break...this is my first time wearing such a dress, you can't blame me for feeling a little bit self-conscious and half-naked. Plus, I'm not exactly the most poised girl in the world, and I need a little bit more practice before I can carry myself the way my sister does!

Oh, and if my outfit wasn't traumatizing enough, I had to allow some guy (who must be 7 or 8 years older than I am, maybe even 10) carry me. Why? Well, remember the old tradition of throwing the bouquet? Most people don't do that anymore...since nobody joins anyway. They modified it somewhat. First, they called the single women to come forward and pull out favors from the cakes from the ceiling of this pavillion-like tent. I didn't stand up because...well, though I am one of the single girls out there, I thought I was a bit too young for it, considering that I'm only 20 and still in college. Anyway, my sister eventually insisted that I pull a favor too, since one of our aunts had told her that we would regret it if we didn't join. So, I did. This wedding coordinator saw me and added me to the number of those who were apparently joining some sort of game. Then, they called out an equal number of single guys. Then, they made us pick a strip of paper from this glass. I got a strip with JACK written on it. I was supposed to look for the matching character for it, which is JILL. And I started panicking, wondering if this was some sort of a soiree game.

Turned out we were supposed to look for our "partner" as fast as we could, and the guy would carry the girl to the front. Whoever gets there last would do the garter ritual thing. Damn, I didn't even know my partner!!! I wanted to curse my sister the whole time haha. What was funny though was Tita Lissa's reaction. She's a little bit...well, on the heavy side. Her reaction upon finding out about the carrying thing? "Pucha, yoko na ng game na 'to!!!"

TRAUMA II:

Ah, that was...a few hours ago. Poetry Seminar class. I was hyper actually, before class. Probably because I was so drained from Theo class. Yeah...one of the symptoms of sleepiness for me is hyperness. Anyway, so, I was pretty hyper there, sitting not so quietly in my seat...when Sir Ypil suddenly pulled out an acetate and said that we were going to discuss one of the poems on Desire. Well, of course, everyone started squirming, terrified that it would turn out to be theirs. Sir Ypil covered the name with a marker, but my eyes were instantly drawn to the last two lines of the first stanza even before he placed it on the OHP machine. And I thought, crap, I think that's mine!

And it was. Whoo...let's just say I was shaking violently all throughout the analysis of my poem. I don't know if anybody noticed, though. Few people really knew it was mine at first.
Yumi did, coz she's read it before. Ina and Abi found out coz they could read the name even though it was covered with marker. I don't know if anyone else knew. I was trying to pretend it wasn't mine by giving criticisms as well. But as I said I was shaking all throughout. Felt very tempted to jump out the window as my poem was massacred hehe. By the end of the analysis, the acetate was covered with blue marks, and I was kinda confused already, what with all the different, and sometimes contradiction, comments. I think they debated about whether "And then" in the fourth stanza should be scrapped out or not for about ten minutes. (Kasi! Si Yumi pasimuno eh!:P) People eventually found out that I'd written it, because Sir Ypil told them afterwards. They probably noticed how fast I ran out of the room with Yumi and the others during breaktime hehe...

Oh, well, at least, now I know (sort of) how to revise the poem. And...I'm still alive!
