Writing and Immersion

I haven't been updating this blog as often as I usually do. Even when there's something to write about, I just don't find the energy to write an entry about it. The last time I wrote here was when I finished the Harry Potter book. That was last Tuesday. Fine, that wasn't so long ago, but I used to post more often than once a week. But then...my life's so boring!

On the other hand, I seem to be getting more energy when it comes to writing and revising my fiction pieces. I've finished re-writing several chapters of the second story I've ever written, one I wrote about seven or eight years ago. I just have a couple or so chapters to go before I finish. Maybe by the end of this week. That's probably the closest I've managed to finishing writing or revising one of my fiction pieces since, oh, since I was in third year high school?

Did some major revamping on that one. It resembles the original story of course, but I made some major cuts and wrote in some new stuff so that it's become very different from the very first draft in both mood and structure. I have to say that I think it's so much better now. I'd gotten my cousin to read it a long time ago, and her comments (and, believe me, they sure leaned on the negative side, even though she's usually biased about my stuff and gives only glowing comments--she's young, she thinks everything I do is good) had helped a lot. I do think that my writing had really matured over the past several years. I sure hope it had! It should, that's the way it's supposed to move. There's a definite progress from the childish style of writing I used to use.

Who knows? Maybe there is some hope that I'd be able to rewrite the rest of my finished stories and write the pending stories I've got as well. Before I turn twenty-five?

I've got immersion this weekend. On Friday, around 4:30 in the afternoon, my group in theology is going to San Mateo, Rizal, to spend the weekend with our foster family and teach the kids there. I'm a little bit apprehensive about it all. I've never done something like that. Sure, I've done some outreach teaching programs before. We had that in grade school. We had those panagpuan/panuluyan outreach programs in Poveda too. But I've never been part of an immersion program before. I'm not sure what to expect. And I'm not a very good teacher. Not to mention that one of the woman whose children we will teach isn't answering the text message I sent her asking for infos on the kids we will teach.

We shall see.
