And you thought you'd never have to see Dr. Tejido again after the oral exam last night. HA! Karma!
We had a little excitement last night right after our final oral exam in theology. It was eight o'clock, and we just finished our traumatizing exam with Dr. Tejido. The theology department was already dark and deserted, and we were all itching to get out of Ateneo and go home (well, some of us). Our things were all in the lounge room (was that redundant?) of the theology department, and we headed straight for it to retrieve our things. Well, what do you know? The door to the lounge was locked...and no one had a key!
It was a case of pass-the-wrong-message. Dr. Tejido had allowed us to prepare for the exam in the lounge for ten minutes. Then, he called us out, told us to leave our things there, and go with him to his office. From what I know, it was Kring who locked the door, because Karlo had told her that the order had come from Dr. Tejido, who apparently had meant the door of the theology department, not the lounge.
So, when we realized that the lounge was locked, with all our things inside, we all (most of us) panicked. Especially Camille and Kring, who both have their philo orals exam tomorrow. Camille's laptop, with all her important files, was inside the lounge, Kring, I think also left her study notes inside. I suppose I could have waited for tomorrow to retrieve my bag, with my cellphone, wallet, i-pod, and USB flash drive. But there you go.
It was actually kind of funny. First, Dr. Tejido raided the secretary's desk to look for the key. Wasn't there. Karlo (he didn't care much, one way or the other, since he didn't have anything inside the lounge) had to go get Bay, who had some wire, to help pick the lock. Didn't work. Dr. Tejido was trying to gouge out the window pane, but he only succeeded in nicking the wood framing the window pane. Camille was already suggesting to break the glass, and we would pay for it. Me, I was just going along...I was still in my post-oral exam insanity, and I was basically clowning around, making a fool of myself. (The way I made a fool of myself right after the thesis defense last Friday...really sorry, Krisha). But I was only joking around when I was egging them on to break the glass, so it was a little shocking to see Dr. Tejido pick up a rock from this little decorative landscape inside the dept, step back, raise his fist, aiming to hurl it at the window pane. Even Kring was shocked. She just took a step back, asking, "Sir, sigurado ka ba?" Eventually, Dr. Tejido set down the rock, and we were considering climbing up the ceiling and crawling through the space. See, there's this panel near the lights which you could lift. I was volunteering to go up (I told you I was on a high...I was enjoying the excitement haha). Karlo did try to go up, but Dr. Tejido eventually stop him because the ceiling seemed to thin to be able to carry Karlo's weight. After about forty minutes of wasting time, trying to get through the door, Dr. Tejido finally suggested that we meet this morning at seven, and he'll bring a locksmith with him.
My parents had been waiting in the parking lot for over an hour, and I had a bit of a hard time trying to find them because we couldn't contact each other, since my phone was in the lounge. I searched for them in the Gonzaga parking lot, and when I couldn't find them there, I headed back to soc sci to ask Darls for a ride. There's something eery about walking in the deserted hallways of the EDSA walk and Kostka. Especially when you're wearing heeled boots and the sound of it clicking against the floor is the only thing you can hear. Anyway, turned out my parents had been searching for me, and they were in front of Dela Costa already.
Anyway, we eventually got our stuff this morning. Darls came by at 6:30 (I had just gotten out of bed), and we walked to school, where we met Kring, who was trying to break down the door of the theology department because Dr. Tejido, who was inside his office, couldn't hear her. Darls joined her in pounding on the door, and Dr. Tejido eventually got the idea and let us in. The lounge had already been opened, by the key which Dr. Tejido had gotten from the secretary.
So, everyone's happy again.
You know, in all the excitement and confusion of trying to break down the lounge door, we forgot all about the oral exam. I was just getting ready to scream when we realized what had happened. And all thoughts of it flew out of my mind.
So, how was the exam? Traumatizing. We'd gotten thesis 1, which was good, since most of us (not really me) wanted it. Plus, it was freaking cold in Dr. Tejido's office, and I was sitting directly in front of the aircon, shivering from both cold and nerves as I listened to my groupmates do their spiels. They were good. Especially the twins, Kring and Karlo, who seemed to know what they were saying and were confident with what they're saying. Darls, too, did fine, from my point of view, though I think she didn't get to finish before Dr. Tejido rang the bell. Camille had a lot of things to say for her part, though we all noticed she said "um" too many times. Finally, it was my turn. Let's just say...I bombed it. I was stammering the whole time, and I know my voice was shaking and breaking all over the place. Kring said I sounded like I was about to cry. Haha...I felt like I was going to cry...from cold or terror, I don't know. And I just going round and round, and I made some mistakes. So, looks like, it's goodbye A for me. Though, Dr. Tejido did say this morning that we had done well...but then, he probably meant Kring and Darls. Haaaay. Oh well. I can live with a B+, but it's only in theo that I had a chance to get an A in.
I'm beginning to sound like Yumi and Ms. Patawaran, stressing over not making it to an A. Hehe, peace to you both.
Well, that's that with theology 141. I can't say I'll miss you, you made this sem a miserable hell (now, that's redundant) for me. But I have to agree with Kring. I'll miss the group. It was, and is, the best and most fun group I've ever had. So, to you all, my theo groupmates who read my blog, plus those who don't, thanks for the semester. You all made theo 141 somewhat tolerable, and the group was the only reason I didn't max the allowable cuts in that class. It was fun hanging out with you all, especially during the immersion. And I'll miss the post-theo card games in the painting room, even the numerous tiring meetings at my house.
Sige, tama na, Edlyn. Masyado nang senti. Di bagay sayo.
Moving on. Three more classes to go. History exam on Tuesday, poetry paper on Wednesday, and Philo orals next Sunday. Oh, yeah, I have to pass that Ateneo Law Exam application this week. Then, sem break!
