The Last First Day

My last "first day" in college. *sniff sniff* Draining, for reasons I haven't yet figured out. There's this feeling of dread in my stomach. It settled there not long after my first class of the day began. And I only had three classes when you think about it.

First up was Theo 151 with Mr. Manaloto at 8:30 this morning. Second to practicum, this is the class wherein I know the most people. Jace, Dianne, Chika and Ma-ann. With Jace's friend, we already have the 6 member group that Mr. Manaloto told us we'd need. About the class itself...hmm. Looks like it's goodbye second-time-DL for me. Apparently, Cerz's warnings about this professor weren't exaggerated. Even Mr. Manaloto himself admitted that he is reputed to give extremely difficult exams and uninspiring grades. Plus, there's the required Sunday recollection, the required membership in some christian community thing. We can choose between one of three weekly (weeknight) seminars or this one-weekend retreat with fee. We're choosing the retreat, since a weekly weeknight thing is a little too difficult too handle, what with our workload, and the thesis. And Yumi and her group will be there, too, since Mr. Salvana is requiring them to go as well. And we also have this group ministry project, wherein we will be putting into action the fourth part of the pastoral circle--pastoral action. There's the answer to our comments on the lack of pastoral action training in Theo 141.

Up next was Philo. Haaaaaaay. Why oh why can't I escape my Poveda past? A whole gang of them in my class. And the types I can't understand either. Great. And then, there's My Lord's tendency (deliberate or not) to make me feel like such an idiot in class. Just the first day, and I already had a couple of moments wherein I wanted to bury my face under my seat. Where oh where is Mr. Manaois' back when I need it? And it was freaking cold in that class. I was shivering all throughout the class. But...at least, My Lord' old grading system is back. 40 % recitation, 30 % written exams (2), and 30% oral exam. At least the 50 % recit has been cut back by ten percent. And no Marcel! I'm finally free of Marcel! *whooping for joy*

I had a three-hour break after that, part of which I spent in the Painting Room, the other part in McDonald's with my friends. Started some of the readings for philosophy since we have to read Sartre's play for Wednesday.

Last class for the day was Iconography with Fr. Javellana at 1:30 in the afternoon. Another class in another freezing classroom. And it'll be my home away from home this sem as it will be my classroom for all three of my fine arts classes this sem. Looks like I'll be lugging a jacket around with me every day of the week this sem. The class itself was fine enough. Interesting, actually. Though, I couldn't appreciate it as much as Cerz obviously did. I was too busy trying not to freeze to death, and I have to admit that I'm not as artistically-inclined as Cerz and Monette are. So, I think I'll stick with the written art and leave the visual arts to them. We have a free cut on Wednesday, so I can watch Harry Potter with the others! Yay!

Couldn't go home right after that since we had that Lit Night meeting at 4:30. Spent some time at the Fine Arts Department, reading the Sartre play before I went to the meeting. The meeting was short enough, and by 5:30, I left. Had dinner at Saisaki with my parents and the office staff at our store.

I'm sleepy. I don't know why. I've been sluggish all day.
