From exhilarated, I drop back down to deflated. I just got the quote from Jana on my journal planner individual thesis project. It certainly woke me up. P1,213.79/copy. I felt as if I'd been sucker-punched.
Goes to show how ignorant I am on the publishing/printing business. I didn't realize how big a difference colored printing would be, especially since I was thinking of grayscale as black and white. I knew that each page had graphics and would probably cost more. I didn't take into account that they print everything at one time already, not page by page, so each page cost the same. I didn't realize it would be that expensive.
I'm going to Ysa Printing in the UP Shopping Center tomorrow, see if the price would go down if it's printed page by page. If they would charge grayscale w/ graphics any cheaper. I tried doing some computations myself awhile ago. If I considered the grayscale pages as colored, too (since they still do have graphics), which, as far as I know cost 15 bucks a page in Ysa, that would still amount to something more expensive than Central Books is charging. Almost a thousand bucks more. So, I might still go with Central Books.
But damn... P1,213.79! And if I am forced to decrease the number of copies, the price per copy would be even higher.
I'm starting to get a headache.
I really am starting to hate money and money matters. But it sure does make the world go round if you have them pouring into your pockets.
