Have you ever seen anyone in shock? I have, just this afternoon. People coming out of classrooms, looking dazed and disoriented. And I know that there must have been the same blank shock on my face when I myself stepped out of room 313.
Nope. That wasn't an exam. That was a freakin' ambush. A nightmare. Except that it happened during the day. So should I call that a day-mare instead?
I'd studied. I had four hours sleep because I studied for that exam. Then, I went to school at nine today to bury myself in the library. (By the way, I just found out. I've been encroaching on the territory of fratmen all this time. So that's why I always end up watching people shake hands again and again. Dennis just informed me. Haha. Time to be a nomad and go look for another spot in the library.) I buried myself in all those readings. Even that one on Legal Positivism, which is just pure hell. Tried to remember all the different point of views of the different Philosophers, even though I thought they were making life unnecessarily complicated for everyone.
Then, exam time came. I took the questionnaire and the blue book to my assigned desk. I sat down. I glanced down at the questionnaire.
Whoo. Instant mind freeze. It was shock at first sight.
#1. Ok next question. #2. Next. I was starting to panic by the time I flipped the next page without having any idea what the previous questions were talking about. I felt so stupid. I couldn't understand a single thing. The exam might as well have been written in German.
I bullshitted my way through, knowing perfectly well that Atty. Villareal will never buy it. I had no choice, I couldn't submit a clean blue book. But damn, even I didn't know anymore what in hell I was talking about. So much for the creative writing major.
Demoralizing. Depressing.
Thirty minutes before the bell rang, I lost the ability to care anymore. Whatever I do, however long the exam goes, I would never have figured out the answer to those questions anyway. How would I figure out the answer to a question when there was nothing in my brain about that certain topic to begin with?
I'm beginning to have a not-so-healthy hatred for philosophy and philosophers.
