Ah, will you look at that? I'm now actually getting letters from the Ateneo alumni association. Hehehe... Happy Birthday letter from Fr. Niebres. Fine, it's actually the standard computer-generated, mass-produced letters they send, and the Happy Birthday part is actually a couple of sentences long. The rest of the letter is about St. Francis Xavier, St. Ignatius, and St. Faber. But it's still...touching.
LOL.
Anyway, Persons debate was today. Should same-sex marriage be allowed in the Philippines? Section 1A vs. Section 1B. Our class was "pro-gay". Well, at least it was the side our class was assigned to defend. Pink Day for all of us today, though Justice Decangchon chose to spend the entire day covering all the pink with his thick coat.
Not bad actually. It was interesting to watch our classmates, Camille and Chin, argue our side, even though, really, the class had a hell of a time trying to find any legal basis whatsoever that they could use for the debate. How exactly do you argue for same-sex marriage when everything society has been used to leads toward, as the "respondents" insisted, "maintaining the status quo".
Though the other side got grilled, too. They were focusing on the pro-creative aspect of marriage. That pretty much got shot down with the argument that there are some childless heterosexual marriages too.
And the results were given. Best Memorial goes to our class, Best Oralist to Camille, one of our oralist. But Best Team went to 1B. Oh, well. I suppose it was to be expected. Kind of anti-climactic actually. Heh.
And so that's done. Weekend finally. Well, not exactly, since we still have Saturday classes. But I still remember how it was like to look forward to Friday night, to the end of a school week. Plus, basically, we've got nothing to study for tomorrow. And of course, there's the fact that I finally get to see both sets of old friends--the KFC tomorrow afternoon right after Legal Research, then some of the FAFA tomorrow night.
Yeah, this optimistic mode isn't so bad.
